ghd Chronos Upgrade Programme Terms and Conditions Valid: 1 May 2026 to 31 May 2026
1. Programme Overview
The ghd Chronos Upgrade Programme (“the Programme”) is a limited-time trade-in promotion administered jointly by Bubbleshop T/A Hair Cosmetics (“Hair Cosmetics”) and Franco International Hair Cosmetics (“Franco International”), collectively referred to as “the Organisers.”
The Programme allows eligible customers to trade in a genuine pre-owned ghd straightener and receive R1,500 off the purchase of a new ghd Chronos Classic or ghd Chronos Max. The Programme is available through two channels:
- Online via haircosmetics.co.za
- In-store at participating Franco International and Hair Cosmetics locations listed in Section 6 below
The Programme is not operated by ghd directly. The Organisers administer the Programme independently as authorised ghd retailers.
2. Promotion Period
The Programme is valid from 1 May 2026 to 31 May 2026 only. Purchases and claims must be made within this period. No extensions will be granted under any circumstances.
3. Qualifying Products
3.1 New Purchase
Only the following products qualify for the Programme:
- ghd Chronos Classic (black only)
- ghd Chronos Max (black only)
The following are expressly excluded from the Programme:
- ghd Chronos and Chronos Max limited editions
- ghd Chronos and Chronos Max gift sets
- All other ghd products
3.2 Trade-In Device
The device being traded in must meet all of the following requirements:
- It must be a genuine ghd straightener. No other brand will be accepted under any circumstances, regardless of similarity to ghd products
- It must have its cord and plug intact
- It must be identifiable as a genuine ghd product by model name and/or date code (found on the tag near the on/off button, under the barcode)
Counterfeit ghd products, non-ghd branded tools, or devices that cannot be confirmed as genuine ghd straighteners will be disqualified with no refund or discount issued.
4. Refund / Discount Value
4.1 A benefit of R1,500 per qualifying trade-in device will be applied as follows:
- Online purchases: R1,500 cash refund via EFT, issued after successful collection and verification of the trade-in device
- In-store purchases: R1,500 discount applied at point of sale, upon physical handover and verification of the trade-in device in-store
4.2 The benefit is linked to qualifying purchases on a per-unit basis. A customer purchasing two qualifying units and submitting two qualifying trade-in devices will receive a total benefit of R3,000.
4.3 The number of benefits issued is limited to the number of qualifying new units purchased in a single transaction.
4.4 For online purchases, the full purchase price is paid upfront at checkout. The R1,500 refund per unit is processed by EFT after successful collection and verification of the trade-in device.
4.5 The benefit is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for store credit, gift cards, vouchers, or any alternative form of payment outside the applicable channel.
4.6 This promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount, offer, coupon, or promotion, including loyalty points redemption.
5. Online Channel – How to Participate
Step 1 – Purchase Purchase a qualifying ghd Chronos Classic or ghd Chronos Max (black) on haircosmetics.co.za between 1 to 31 May 2026.
Step 2 – Claim Email Following a qualifying purchase, you will receive a Programme participation email at the address used at checkout. This email contains a unique link to the Trade-Up claim form. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours of purchase, contact us at haircosmetics@francointernational.co.za or call 010 015 5058.
Step 3 – Complete the Claim Form You must complete the claim form in full. The following information is required:
- Full name
- Cell phone number
- Email address
- Desired collection address for the trade-in device
- Model name of the ghd tool being returned
- Date code of the ghd tool being returned (found on the tag near the on/off button, under the barcode)
- Bank account details for EFT payment (account holder name, bank name, account number, branch code)
Incomplete forms will not be processed until all required fields are completed.
Step 4 – Collection Once your claim form has been received and verified, the Organisers will arrange collection of your trade-in device from the address provided. Collection takes 2 to 4 working days from claim confirmation.
Step 5 – Verification The collected device will be inspected and verified as a genuine ghd straightener with cord and plug intact. Verification takes 1 to 2 working days from the date of collection.
Step 6 – Payment Upon successful verification, a refund of R1,500 per qualifying unit will be processed via EFT through Standard Bank. Payment takes up to 7 working days from the date verification is completed, subject to standard banking processing times.

7. In-Store Channel – How to Participate
Step 1 – Purchase In-Store Purchase a qualifying ghd Chronos Classic or ghd Chronos Max (black) at any participating location listed in Section 6, between 1 to 31 May 2026.
Step 2 – Complete the In-Store Form At the point of purchase, complete the in-store Trade-Up form with the following details:
- Full name
- Contact number
- Email address
- Model name of the ghd tool being returned
- Date code of the ghd tool being returned (found on the tag near the on/off button, under the barcode)
Step 3 – Hand Over the Trade-In Device Hand your trade-in ghd straightener to the store at the time of purchase, together with your completed form. The R1,500 discount will be applied to your purchase following in-store verification of the device.
Step 4 – Store Verification Store staff will verify that the trade-in device is a genuine ghd straightener with cord and plug intact. The store’s verification decision is final. Devices that do not meet the qualifying criteria will not be accepted and no discount will be applied.
Step 5 – Proof of Purchase Your store invoice or receipt number for the new ghd Chronos purchased must be recorded on the in-store form. Retain your proof of purchase.
8. Online – Collection of Trade-In Device
8.1 The customer is responsible for ensuring the trade-in device is available for collection at the address provided in the claim form.
8.2 The Organisers will make two collection attempts. If the device cannot be collected on the second attempt due to an incorrect address or unavailability, the claim will be forfeited.
8.3 The Organisers accept no liability for failed collections resulting from inaccurate information provided by the customer.
9. Verification & Disqualification
9.1 The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any trade-in device that:
- Is not a genuine ghd branded straightener
- Is from any other brand, whether or not it resembles a ghd product
- Is a counterfeit or non-original ghd product
- Does not have its cord and plug intact
- Cannot be identified or verified as a genuine ghd product
9.2 For online claims, if a trade-in device is disqualified following collection, the customer will be notified within 2 working days of the verification decision. The disqualified device will be returned to the customer at no charge.
9.3 The Organisers’ verification decision is final in all cases.
10. Ownership of Trade-In Device
10.1 Upon successful acceptance of the trade-in device, whether in-store or following online collection and verification, the device becomes the property of ghd and will be responsibly disposed of in accordance with ghd’s environmental standards.
10.2 By participating in the Programme, the customer confirms they are the lawful owner of the trade-in device and have the full right to transfer ownership of it.
11. Warranty
The ghd manufacturer’s warranty applies to all new ghd Chronos Classic and Chronos Max units purchased through this Programme. The ghd Chronos straightener carries a 3-year warranty from the date of invoice. Please refer to the warranty leaflet included in the product box for full terms and conditions.
12. Online – Banking & Payment
12.1 The customer is responsible for providing accurate banking details. The Organisers accept no liability for failed or delayed payments resulting from incorrect information provided by the customer.
12.2 EFT payments are processed via Standard Bank and are subject to standard interbank clearing timelines.
12.3 The Organisers will not be liable for payment delays caused by public holidays, bank processing times, or other circumstances beyond their reasonable control.
13. Data & Privacy
13.1 Personal information collected via the online claim form or in-store Trade-Up form will be used solely for the purpose of administering this Programme, including collection logistics and payment processing.
13.2 Banking details provided for online EFT payments will not be retained beyond the processing of the relevant payment.
13.3 All personal information collected under this Programme will be disposed of upon completion of the promotional period.
13.4 All personal information is handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), No. 4 of 2013. By participating, customers consent to the Organisers using their personal information only for Programme administration purposes.
14. General
14.1 The Organisers reserve the right to amend, suspend, or terminate the Programme at any time without prior notice.
14.2 Participation in the Programme, whether online or in-store, constitutes full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
14.3 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
14.4 In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Organisers is final, subject to applicable consumer protection legislation including the Consumer Protection Act, No. 68 of 2008.
14.5 The Organisers’ liability to any participant under this Programme is limited to the value of the benefit applicable to that participant’s qualifying purchase.
